Heartland Rock

The story of Taumarunui's Memorial Heartland King Country Rock.

A top hat... a map... a Whanganui river stone and a square bark garden...

What does all this mean...?

From the top, it represents:

The Top Hat - An historic symbol of guardianship of the King Country. (the map on the stone)

The river access was the first way into this area. The power of the river is shown by the size of the stone.

The Bark Garden is for the memories of the forest heartland of this area.

It's four corners announce a meeting place of the four winds where a welcome is offered to travellers passing through.

The words on the rock inspired the song HEARTLAND KING COUNTRY to be created, produced & enjoyed by all.

More info about the area can be found at middle-of-everywhere.co.nz
